Social Committee Autumn Updates

Our Moon Festival on Friday 25th September was a fantastic success, with the event selling out and over 80 people coming along to enjoy a lovely evening at Elton. It was particularly nice to welcome so many new faces alongside our regular members, with families and friends enjoying the evening together. 

There was plenty to keep everyone entertained, from cake decorating and rock painting to moon water wishes, alongside supper and the Moon Festival raffle. Together, we raised over £400 for club funds, which is a brilliant result. A huge thank you goes to our Social Committee for the planning, preparation and hard work that went into feeding and entertaining everyone, and to all those who helped or supported the evening. These events take a great deal of effort behind the scenes, and seeing so many people enjoying themselves makes it all worthwhile.

As the evenings draw in, there will still be plenty of reasons to come down to the club. Geoff McLardys Wednesday evening painting sessions return on Wednesday 28th October, from 7pm to 9pm, offering a chance to slow down, get creative and enjoy a couple of hours in good company. Sessions cost £5 per person, with half going to Bury Hospice and the other half supporting club funds, so your evening of painting will also help two very worthwhile causes.

The painting group welcomes beginners as well as more experienced artists, so please dont feel you need to be an expert to get involved. Whether you already enjoy painting or have been looking for an opportunity to try it, its a lovely way to spend a Wednesday evening and get to know other members. Meanwhile, the Social Committee has already turned their attention to Christmas, and planning for our festive celebrations is under way. Well begin by putting up and decorating the Christmas tree and dressing the clubhouse for the season on Thursday 3rd December, from 4pm to 6pm. Come along and lend a hand as we get everything looking festive and ready for the celebrations ahead.

Then, on Saturday 5th December, it will be time for the childrens Christmas party! Put the date in your diary and keep an eye out for more details as the plans come together. Were looking forward to giving our younger members and their families something special to enjoy in the run-up to Christmas.
