It was great to see so many of you joining us for the penultimate day of our Autumn Handicap Series, with a fantastic turnout both on and off the water. Thank you to everyone who sailed, helped out or came along to support. Let’s keep that enthusiasm going for the final and into our winter sailing programme!

There is plenty more to look forward to, with Sunday sailing throughout autumn and winter, opportunities to develop your skills and some exciting additions to our club fleet.

Dates for your diary

Sunday 25th October – Autumn Handicap Series Final

Our Autumn Handicap Series, kindly sponsored by Tim Craig Loss Assessors, reaches its final day this Sunday. We would love to see another strong turnout to round off the series. A big thank you to our sponsor and everyone who has supported the racing.

Sunday 1st November – End of Season Regatta

Our End of Season Regatta is a standalone day of sailing, with three races starting at midday. Come along, join the fleet and enjoy another great Sunday at Elton.

Keep sailing this winter

Sunday sailing continues throughout the winter, with the Frostbite Series starting on Sunday 8th November. There will be three races each Sunday in November, reducing to two in December.

We will also be welcoming visiting sailors for the Elton Cauldron on Sunday 27th December, followed by our Snowflake Open Series throughout January and February. These are great opportunities to sail alongside visitors from other clubs and give them a warm Elton welcome.

Alongside the racing, there is plenty of room on the reservoir for members who would simply like to enjoy a relaxed sail. We would particularly love to see more of our junior sailors joining us on Sundays and continuing to build their confidence.

There are also opportunities to crew with experienced sailors in double handers. If you would like to give it a go, ask around at the club or pop a message in the General WhatsApp group so other members know you are looking for a space.

Exciting news for our club fleet

Following our successful Sport England grant application, we will have two new RS Zest dinghies ready for next spring. These modern boats can be sailed single or double handed and are suitable for training both adults and juniors—a fantastic addition to our fleet!

Our Hartley dinghies have also been refurbished to extend their working life, and the Wayfarer kindly donated earlier this year is back on the water and available for members to sail.

Thank you to everyone helping to keep our club boats ready for members to enjoy.

Interested in becoming an Assistant Instructor?

We are looking to arrange a two-day Assistant Instructor course, run by a club Senior Instructor.

This is a great opportunity for sailing members who would like to develop their skills, support our training programme and help others discover the enjoyment of sailing. To register your interest, please email vicecommodore@eltonsailingclub.co.uk.

Stay connected

Our members-only WhatsApp community is a great way to arrange sailing, find crewing opportunities and keep in touch with fellow members.

To join, please email commodore@eltonsailingclub.co.uk with the mobile number you use for WhatsApp. This must match the number held on your membership record so we can verify your membership before adding you.

We look forward to seeing plenty of you enjoying your club and getting out on the water over the coming months!
