Sailing Parents

WHAT DO PARENTS NEED TO DO?

DO I HAVE TO GET INVOLVED?
YES! You will be expected to help your child rig their boat and help them launch and recover. As with all activity at the Club your involvement is essential. Here is a list of what we will need your help with. ACTION NEEDED - Let us know if you have a job preference

  • Launching (will need kit to get wet & buoyancy aid),
  • Boat Park and Store (at the end of the evening to check all boats & kit is away),
  • Rib crew (must have suitable clothing for being on the rib),
  • Rigging supervisor (to help new parents/sailors with rigging),
  • Galley (provide food for after sailing)
  • Shore Parent (to use the VHF and relay messages)

We rely on parental help to make the program a success; you can help out on the water, admin, or in the galley whichever you prefer.

PARENTS KIT LIST
Parents will need to help sailors with rigging, launching, de-rigging and it sometimes rains, so best to be prepared!! The following are useful items for any sailing parent:

  • Buoyancy aid - if needed on the jetty
  • Waterproof / Coat
  • Waders / Wellies/ wet boots to launch boats
