May / June Updates from Sailing Committee
Published 1:00am on 3 Jun 2026
Despite a few spells of changeable weather, it has been fantastic to see such a great variety of boats out on the water enjoying some lively and competitive racing on both Wednesdays and Sundays. It has also been brilliant to see our juniors making the most of Thursday evenings and continuing to build their skills and confidence.
We had a very successful Social Sailing day on Saturday 30th May, with both new and experienced sailors getting out on the water. A big thank you goes to the Social Committee, who provided excellent support on land and kept everyone well fed with a BBQ.
From Saturday 13th June, due to high demand, we are delighted to be running regular Saturday afternoon Social Sailing, with a safety boat on the water from 12pm to 4pm. All sailors are warmly welcome. For those who are new to the club, there will be help available with rigging boats, as well as the opportunity to sail alongside more experienced members.
Forthcoming events
Saturday 13th June The start of regular Saturday afternoon Social Sailing.
Sunday 14th June Club Trophy Day will take place instead of regular Sunday racing. This will be a Match Racing League using singlehanders, and all sailors are welcome to take part. There will be multiple short sprint races between two boats, starting at 12 midday. More details will follow.
Saturday/Sunday 20th/21st June RYA Level 1 Start Sailing course for new adult sailors. The course is booking up quickly, so anyone interested in joining this course, or adding their name to the list for future courses, should email vicecommodore@eltonsailingclub.co.uk.
Wednesday 24th June Summer Solstice Trophy evening. We are planning to hold two races, so racing will start at 7pm rather than the usual Wednesday start time of 7.30pm.
Sailing duties
All of the above events, as well as our regular sailing days, rely on the support of volunteers. Please do sign up for duties where you can — every bit of help makes a real difference and helps keep our sailing programme running smoothly.
