Updates from Sailing Committee

In summary sailing committee aims to get more people sailing and more boats racing!

New ILCA Class Captain - we welcomed Ava as the new class captain

Key Dates for January: 

  • Sat 17th Jan - First Aid Course
  • 24th-25th Jan - Safety Boat Course
  • Thu 22nd Jan - Blind Sailing Talk
  • Tue 27th Jan - Instructor Updating (book online)

Sailing Calendar: Plans are well underway with the sailing programme for 2026 

  • There are to be some new ideas and trophy days to offer sailing for all levels. 
  • Saturday sessions will be expanding to offer both Level UP Improver Sessions (for beginners moving from Level 1 to Level 2 and beyond) and separate Race Coaching sessions. 
  • The number of and length of races has been reviewed and following feedback the decision to increase the number of races but shorten the race length has been taken. More guidance on this will follow next month.

Training Programme: The training programme is already filling up with the following planned for Jan - March 2026: PBL2, Level 2, ILCA and Solo Class training and Safety Boat Skills. We are also looking at dates for a Dinghy Instructor Course. Please get in touch if you are interested in this.

Duties Officer: We are looking for someone us as the Duties Officer, if you would like to find out more, speak to Ali or Adam.

Berthing: Stickers will be introduced in 2026 to help identify unpaid berths and fee up spaces for new members.

Prizes and Sponsorship: We are looking for sponsorship for both Series and Trophy Days for 2026.
